Frequently Asked Questions
For Students & Families
Who can apply to the ESTEEM Foundation programs?
Our programs are open to high school students in grades 9–12 who demonstrate interest in environmental stewardship and community service. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experience levels—no prior travel or construction experience is required. We actively recruit from diverse communities to ensure our scholars reflect the world they will help protect.
How much does the program cost, and is financial aid available?
Program costs vary by destination and duration. We are committed to removing financial barriers—every accepted student receives significant scholarship support, and full travel scholarships are available based on need and merit. Our funding model combines grants, fundraising, and private contributions to ensure cost is never the reason a qualified student cannot participate.
How do students earn school credit?
We partner with schools and accredited institutions to align our experiential curriculum with academic standards. Students document their work through journals, project portfolios, and reflection assignments supervised by our education team. We coordinate directly with your school to facilitate credit transfer.
What safety measures are in place during travel?
Student safety is our highest priority. Every cohort travels with trained chaperones, maintains 24/7 emergency contact protocols, and partners with vetted local organizations. All destinations undergo risk assessment, and families receive comprehensive pre-departure orientation covering health, security, and communication procedures.
For Schools & Partners
How can our school partner with ESTEEM?
We welcome partnerships with schools seeking to expand experiential learning opportunities. We handle logistics, curriculum alignment, and credit coordination at no cost to partner institutions. Contact us to schedule a consultation and explore how ESTEEM integrates with your academic programs.
For Donors & Supporters
How is my donation used?
Seventy-five percent of every dollar goes directly to program costs—travel, lodging, project materials, and local partnerships. The remainder supports scholar preparation and lean organizational operations. We publish annual financial reports and are happy to connect donors with specific scholars or projects upon request.
